Ciarán Danny Mikes pub and restaurant was built in 1997 and is open all year for food and drink. The name of the pub is actually the name of the owner. In ireland there is a custom of using the names of preceeding generations to identify families. On Cape Clear there are many families of O Driscoll. In order to recognise the various septs, the father and grandfather’s names are used. Ciarán’s father was Danny. His father was Mike. So he is Ciarán Danny Mike. In fact he can go back for five generations - Ciarán,Danny,Mike,Sean,Eireamhain. His roots are very well established on the island.
